Troubleshooting
The usual suspects, and how to fix them.
I can’t see Quai’s Dock
- Open Quai’s menu bar menu and make sure Show Quai Dock is checked.
- With Automatically hide on, move the pointer to the Dock’s edge of the screen.
- Check Display in Settings › Dock: the Dock may be on another screen.
Apple’s Dock is back, or still hidden
Apple’s Dock is hidden only while Quai’s Dock is on, and when Use as desktop widget is off. If Quai can’t open at all and Apple’s Dock stays hidden, run this in Terminal to restore the macOS defaults:
defaults delete com.apple.dock autohide-delay; defaults delete com.apple.dock autohide; killall DockNo badges, minimized windows or window lists
Allow Quai in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Window previews also need Screen Recording.
A widget shows nothing
Click it: its pane says what’s missing. Calendar and Reminders need their permission; Weather needs a city, or Location; business widgets need a valid key.
Quai can’t hide Apple’s Dock
If your Mac is managed and a configuration profile sets the Dock’s options, Quai can’t change them: ask whoever manages the Mac, or use Quai as a desktop widget.
The menu bar icon is hidden
Open Quai again from Applications or Spotlight: it opens Settings.
