Command and Shortcut

Put your own automations one click away.

Shortcut

Choose a shortcut from the Shortcuts app, then click the tile to run it. Drop files on the tile to pass them to the shortcut. Give it a label, a symbol and a color.

Command

A switch for a shell command. Each click runs the command in your login shell, so the tools in your PATH work as they do in Terminal.

  • Command — what to run, for instance a script that turns something on or off.
  • On while this process runs — optional. The tile shows On while a running process matches this text (like pgrep -f), so it stays right even when you use the command from Terminal. Leave it empty and the tile simply switches at each successful run.
  • Label, a symbol and a color.

Right-click the tile for Turn On or Turn Off. A command has 30 seconds to finish; if it fails, the tile shows a warning and its message.

Commands run with Quai’s permissions. A script that simulates key presses works because Quai can be allowed Accessibility.
