Getting started
Install Quai, and a new Dock takes the place of Apple’s — with room for widgets.
Install
- Buy Quai. Your download page opens right after paying, and its link arrives by email: open it on each Mac where you want Quai.
- Open the Quai disk image from your Downloads folder.
- Drag Quai to Applications, then open it.
Quai needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later. On macOS 26 Tahoe its Dock is made of Liquid Glass; on Sequoia it uses a frosted material.
Your first Dock
Quai’s Dock appears where Apple’s was. It takes over your Dock’s position, icon size, magnification and auto-hide, and starts with Finder, Safari, Notes and Calendar. Apple’s Dock is hidden while Quai’s is on.
From there:
- Right-click the Dock and choose Add › Apps… to bring in your apps, or drag them from Finder.
- Choose Add › Widget… to open the widget gallery.
- Turn on Launch at login in Settings › General so the Dock is ready when you log in.
- Click Allow next to Accessibility in Settings › Dock for app badges, minimized windows and keeping windows clear of the Dock.
The menu bar icon
Quai lives in the menu bar. Its menu has Show Quai Dock, Dock Settings… (⌘,), About Quai and Quit Quai.
Uncheck Show Quai Dock, or quit Quai, and Apple’s Dock comes back with your own settings.
Updates
Quai tells you when a new version is out. To have it download and install updates itself, open your download page once Quai is installed and click Activate updates in Quai — or paste the license key from your purchase email in Settings › About. Check for Updates… is in the menu bar menu.
