Weather, stocks and business

These widgets fetch their data online, directly from your Mac to the service.

Weather

Forecasts come from Open-Meteo — no key needed. Search for a city, or use your current location (Quai then asks for Location access). Styles: Current, Conditions and Hourly forecast, with a background that follows the weather or a plain one. The forecast refreshes every 20 minutes while the widget is on screen.

Stock and Watchlist

Prices come from Yahoo Finance — no key needed. A Stock tile follows one symbol with its chart; a Watchlist follows up to six.

Business

Each business widget connects to one account, with a key you create in that service. Keys are stored in your login Keychain and sent only to their own service. Stripe, Paddle and Shopify refresh every five minutes while the widget is on screen; Mollie every ten minutes and Revenue API every fifteen, or as often as you set (1 to 120 minutes).

  • Stripe — a restricted key with Balance: Read and Subscriptions: Read. Revenue, Net after fees, MRR, ARR, Paying subscribers and ARPU.
  • Paddle — a Billing API key. Net revenue, MRR and ARR.
  • Shopify — a custom app with read access to orders. Order value, orders and average order value.
  • Mollie — an API key with read access to payments. The total of paid payments.
  • Revenue API — any address that returns JSON, plus the path to the number to show, with an optional token.

Create read-only keys whenever the service allows it. Quai never needs to change anything in your accounts.

Custom API

Shows any value from an address that returns JSON, not only revenue: signups, GitHub stars, open tickets, a status. In its pane:

  • Label — what the value is, shown under it. Without one, the tile shows the API’s address.
  • Icon — none, or a symbol on a colored square.
  • URL and JSON path — where the value is in the response, such as data.signups or items[0].name. Leave the path empty when the response is just the value; start it with [0] when the response is a list.
  • Format — Number, Currency, Percent (42 shows as 42%) or Text. Number and Text can have a unit, such as ms or users.
  • Send a token — sent as Authorization: Bearer, or in the header you name. It’s kept in your Keychain.
